Oregano
A great ground cover plant, oregano is useful for more than just eating. Having a high polyphenol count, oregano is unbeatable for fighting common illnesses like a cold. Indispensable in Mexican and Italian cooking, it is sometimes hard to have too much oregano in the garden, so plant many individuals. Boasting midsummer flowers of pink, purple or white, the plants can be very ornamental. The leaves are hairy and oval, small and the plant grows to about 2 feet tall and 10 feet wide. It is native to Europe, central Asia and the Mediterranean. Individual plants can have differing flavors. Usually the less water you give oregano the stronger the spicy or bitterness flavor is.
