Mulch
Mulch does more for the environment than you think. Mulching saves water, increases soil tilth, decreases weeds, regulates soil temperatures, and sows microbial life by the millions.
Water conservation
Water conservation is the biggest reason to be mulching with any material. Lets conserve our most valuable resource! We don’t need to be water hogs in horticulture, we can ration every drop and send it straight to the roots! Reduce water evaporation and need with a thick layer of mulch. In many areas 6 to 12 inches of mulch can be tolerated for maximum water savings.
Mulch to save the Earth
Carbon sequestration is a major political topic. There is clear science behind it for us all to see. Leading companies like agriservice are pushing to educate everyone through public schools and private business to promote popular topics such as soil health to bud a new generation of gardeners. Lets all try to encompass our actions for seven generations ahead of us.
Different types of mulch
There are many different types of mulch: wood chips, dg, rock, rubber mulch, recycled goods, etc. They all achieve the same goals in different ways. For instance wood chips and rocks provide the same benefits but rock is more expensive to install and doesn’t need refreshing. Wood chips need refreshing annually but are much cheaper for installation. Mulch is very aesthetically pleasing.
